Suggested resources

As a class, view Little J & Big Cuz, Episode 1 ‘Lucky Undies’, and stop the clip at the beginning of the classroom experiment for Super Snot. Ask students to be very observant to identify the ingredients, equipment, and process used to make the Super Snot. Repeat the clip, viewing until the class identifies all information. If possible, and within safety guidelines, invite two students to make Super Snot in the classroom. Discuss and list the action words needed to complete the recipe: measure, pour, stir, mix, etc. Discuss and list the measurements or proportions of the ingredients.

View one of the video clips on Procedural Text or explain the requirements for a procedural text, and reinforce the requirements for what students need to explain through their procedural text (listed above). Provide students with a ‘Recipe template’ and have students complete it for making Super Snot.

Invite students to describe and explain the procedure for making their favourite recipe, craft item, or anything else where there is a direct process/procedure to follow.
